San Francisco CalHeat and Smurfs place both 5th at the 2011 US National Championships

San Francisco CalHeat and Smurfs repeated their success from last years Nationals and placed again 5th overall.

Heartbreaking losses in the prelimenary round barred both teams from advancing to the semifinals and having a shot at the aimed medals.

While the Smurfs suffered a last minute loss by only one goal to North Carolina at their first game, CalHeat gave up a comfortable lead against Chicago in the last 5 minutes and also suffered a loss by only two goals against the subsequent National Champion of New York City in their last two games of the group stage. This placed both teams only third in their group and set them up to play for the 5th place, which both teams won very convincingly. Although the results were a bit dissapointing, both teams showed a very good team spirit and played some very good games. Especially CalHeat that was very close to break the unbeaten streak of New York City.

 New York City and Chicago Inter took the Gold in the Men's and Women's divisions respectively.
