CalHeat managed to stay alive and won game 5 of the best of seven San Francisco Bay Area Championship Series with an impressive 28 to 24 victory. However the Golden Bears still have an overall 3 to 2 lead and can claim the championship with another win in the next game, while CalHeat needs to win the next two games.
From the start a very tight game developped. Neither team could build a desceisive lead. On the contrary each goal of one team was answered immedeately by a goal of the other team. Howeve at the second part of the first half CalHeat stepped it up a bit and Berkeley looked a bit disorganized. This helped CalHeat to score 6 unanswered goals in only 5 minutes and grab a comfortable 18 to 11 lead at halftime.
Nothing changed much at the beginning of the second half. CalHeat looked at first like being in firm control of the game. However this time Berkeley increased the pace and CalHeat started to look a bit disorganized. Shots were missed and turnovers started to acumulate, which Berkeley used to close the gap to only two goals. This served as a wake up call for CalHeat. The defense got tougher and the offense finally was able to breack through again. This was enough for CalHeat to keep Berkeley at bay and take the game in the end with a 28 to 22 victory.
