SF CalHeat is starting the season in Chicago

It’s been a terrific summer for Handball in the Bay Area. We’ve grown the Beach Handball community through various events and introduced the sport to many. It’s now time for the indoor Handball. SF CalHeat will kick-off the season in Chicago when they take part in the 8th edition of the Michael Lipov Memorial tournament hosted by Chicago Inter HC on the weekend of October 27th – 29th.

This tournament is important for seeding at the US National Championship and also gives points for the Wild Card race for qualification to the Elite Division on the men’s side.

SF CalHeat men will compete with last year’s Champions NYAC, Army West Point and Alberta Youth in group A, and locals Chicago Inter, newly formed Revol, Ontario and Barrington round up group B. Only the first two from each group will advance to semifinals, and the new champion will be decided on Sunday.

The team has been practicing hard to get back in shape and get the plays flowing. We are looking forward to seeing all of these efforts pay out.
The road to the 2018 US Nationals is long but we are excited to start the journey. – Francis Brero

SF CalHeat women will compete with the local Chicago Inter, National Champions Team Rogue, and Army West Point, forming a very competitive schedule that will crown the first champion of the season on Sunday morning.

Chicago is always worth the travel. The tournament is a good opportunity to assess where we stand with our team early on in the season. Our focus will be to find our rhythm that will carry us all the way to Nationals. – Michelle Mensing
