After a long and focused search, SF CalHeat is excited to announce the appointment of Mark Lockenmeyer to its Board of Directors.<\/p>\n
Mark brings not only ties to Team Handball and SF CalHeat, but also a much needed “American” point of view to the Board, as well as all his business acumen and experience with sports and non-profit organizations.<\/p>\n
“Mark is very familiar with San Francisco CalHeat, having played and coached for over 15 years beginning in 1989-90 when he was a member of the National Championship Team that won in Reno, Nevada. From 1993-1995 Mark was the coach of the Women\u2019s West Olympic Festival Team, and in 1996 he was named the Team Handball Competition Manager for the Atlanta Olympic Games, overseeing 200 staff and volunteers, 20 Olympic Teams, and 7 facilities.<\/p>\n
Mark has worked in the Bay Area for over 30 years. He currently works in commercial real estate with Cornish and Carey Commercial, now NGKF. He’s currently President of the Harbor Industrial Association and involved with the National Football Foundation, awarding local student athletes scholarships to colleges. He was also on the San Carlos Economic Development Commission for 6 years.<\/p>\n
Mark is a graduate of Princeton University, won the William Winston Roper Award (student\/athlete), and received an honorable discharge from the US Army (ROTC). He was an All-League in football\/baseball, captain of the baseball team in 1981, played 2 seasons for Chatham in the Cape Cod League, and was drafted in the 11th round by the Detroit Tigers, where he played 5 seasons in the minor leagues, winning two Texas League Championships with the NY Mets, AA affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi.<\/p>\n
Mark is an original member of Manasquan High School Athletic Hall of Fame (Manasquan, NJ) and a member of the Brookdale Community College (Lincroft, NJ) Hall of Fame as a coach. Mark\u2019s son, Ben Belanger, has worked in the athletic department for University of Michigan for the last 10 years and was a ball boy for Team Handball events in the 1996 Olympic Games.”<\/p>\n
